Platom arranges a training course on Finnish Regulatory Guides on Nuclear Safety and Security (YVL-guides) in Tampere on Thursday 8.10.2020 (in Finnish).

The topics are selected especially from the viewpoint of suppliers and manufacturers operating or intending to operate in the nuclear industry. The training is open for everyone.

The training includes insights to the most important requirements of the YVL-guides, giving you valuable practical tips on how the requirements can be met. During the course you will learn the basics of the selected YVL-guides (please see the schedule for details) and how to work with them in your projects.

The instructors are Platom’s experienced experts Kirsi Hassinen and Urpo Sarajärvi.

Minimum number of participants is 10 for the on-site training. If the pandemic situation prevents the on-site training, a webinar can also be arranged. The participants will be personally contacted in this case.

Invoicing and cancellation terms

The training will be invoiced after the training has been held. The payment term is 30 days.

Cancellations must be done at latest 2 weeks before the event. If the cancellation is made less than 2 weeks before the event 50 % of the participation fee will be charged. In case of no-show without prior cancellation the training will be fully charged. If you are unable to participate you can designate another person to attend instead of you.

Our Lecturers

Kirsi Hassinen, Business Unit Manager, Licensing, Qualification and Authority Requirements,
Platom Oy

Kirsi has been working in the nuclear industry for over 22 years. She has experience from the development of quality- and management systems, safety culture and processes that comply with regulatory requirements. She has worked as Head of Licensing, taking responsibility of all project related licensing and qualification activities, guides and directions, staff training and regulatory correspondence. She has participated in several projects creating and overseeing the creation of documentation to comply with regulations, and has a specialization in electrical engineering.

Urpo Sarajärvi, Leading Specialist – Hoist and Transfer Equipment, Platom Oy


Urpo has been working in the nuclear industry for 16 years, 11 of which at the regulatory authority STUK. He has overseen the structural integrity of piping, safety classified cranes and fuel transfer equipment to ensure their safety for their entire lifespan. He has experience from construction inspections and the creation of regulations (including YVL-guides). At Platom, Urpo works as a leading specialist for hoist and transfer equipment.
